Webinar: Indigenous Cultural Landscapes

Webinar: Indigenous Cultural Landscapes in FSC Certification

Jessica Hum was privileged to be part of a consultant team supporting the Wahkohtowin Development Group (WDGP) to develop a detailed case study of an approach to Indigenous Cultural Landscapes indicators relevant to the Forestry Services Council Canada New National Forest Stewardship Standards. The research team co-designed a participatory research plan and methods of earning consent, prior to facilitating engagement and delivery of research reporting, including learning resources (toolkits, interview guides and interactive webinars).

This research engaged with community-based working groups to evaluate the potential approach to Free, Prior and Informed Consent to forestry, and in supporting Indigenous Peoples in land use planning and management activities related to Species at Risk, their identification, assessment and management planning.

Measuring Our Impact: the Indigenous Cultural Landscapes project resulted in a live-recorded webinar series and toolkit to engage additional Indigenous communities in developing their own forestry plans.
